The history of the Relais Pierret began at the end of the last century from the desire of the Micheli Gigotti family to maintain their ownership of Palazzo Pierret in Piazza di Spagna. The family had been linked to the palace since the middle of the 19th century, when their ancestor, the goldsmith Ernesto Pierret, came from France and bought the little palace in Piazza di Spagna. In those years, Pierret moved his business to Italy and the palace still bears his name today on its façade.
The Micheli Gigotti family had lived in the rooms of the palace since the middle of the 19th century, contributing to its enrichment thanks to the works of the famous painter Lorenzo Gigotti, father of the current owners. The painter’s home became a reference point for international culture, and among the friends who enlivened the Micheli Gigotti salon it would have been easy to run into artists such as de Chirico, Chagall and Guttuso.
The descendents Laura, Carlo and Stefano Micheli Gigotti, who were born and lived for many years in this historic palace, decided in the mid-‘90s to pursue a vision: to redevelop this beloved building and transform it into rooms and suites for tourists from all over the world. Their undertaking was that of creating a balanced mix of old and new at the service of an exclusive tourism in search of art, culture and history along with all the comforts.
Today at the Relais Pierret guests can perceive all the power of tradition and drink in the charm of the old frescoes while enjoying unusually beautiful views. For the last few years Daniele, Giulia and Elisabetta Micheli Gigotti, the latest in the family line, with great entrepreneurial energy, have been managing the prestigious apartment hotel, which has become a center of excellence in tourist Rome.
